When I first received this, I thought it was awesome. However, it is really only useful and safe for light items such as tomatoes etc. (in my opinion). I used it for heavy things such as potatoes and it broke and I had to throw it out. It IS super sharp, but honestly I am just not happy or comfortable with it. Small potatoes were falling out of that handle holder thing and I think it’s kinda dangerous because of that, if you ask me. There HAS to be a better way to slice everything and unfortunately this is NOT the appliance

I don’t know what happened to my mandolin, so I got this to replace it. I chose this one because of all the slice size options as well as the julienne options. I also liked all of the safety features to attempt to not destroy my fingers, plus it has the blade cover and brush to keep it clean. The legs also fold down, so it’s easy to store.I don’t have a lot of experience using mandolins, but I do appreciate how well they work to make slicing things easy. I used mine to slice paper thin pieces of potato for a casserole. This was able to get them thin enough to see through with ease.I did not use the cut preventing gloves, although I should have considering how accident prone I am, but I appreciate the feature. The holder device is awesome and a must-have for mandolins. This one is a great size and it fits within the blades so it’s very easy and efficient to use.I didn’t need multiple shred and grate options like some other mandolins offer, so this was perfect for me. The blade is insanely sharp (hence the multiple safety devices for it) and the brush is perfect for keeping it clean.I’d highly recommend this for anyone wanting a basic, exceptionally sharp and precise mandoline. Very good at slicing as long as the veggie is super fresh. I can adjust how thick I want the onions and tomatoes which is why I purchased the mandolin. Haven’t been successful with the julienne blades with zucchini. Not sure why. Very sharp blade. SAVE the blade cover. Don’t toss it thinking it is just packaging for shipment.

at the same time to try them both out. The Pronto initially attracted my attention because it was all one piece. My kitchen is already too full of gadgets and accessories so the idea of all the blades and sizes built into this unit was exciting. After using the Pronto and above linked unit side by side for both slicing and Julienne I was split between the ease of use of the TechCulinary and and the space saving aspects of the Pronto.The Pronto has a pretty decent build quality, the movement of the knob felt solid when adjusting sizes and the blade was sharp. It worked well with the large russet potatoes though it got caught a few times when trying the Julienne blades. It wasn’t till I tried the V blade of the other unit that I realized how much easier it is to slice hard vegetables with a V Blade. I also noticed that some of the sliced potatoes were a little uneven compared to the other unit. Most likely from the extra effort it took to push it through this type of blade design.I am split between 3 or 4 stars. I felt the actual function of the unit deserved 3 stars but the fact it is space saving gives it a redeeming quality that upped it a star. Overall, not a bad unit if you need to save space but still want decent function.

I really liked how sharp and quick it cut through anything the blade hit. The jullian blade was less sharp than the slicer blade. However, the drawback to it being so sharp is the gloves that came with it that supposed to protect your hands is no match for the sharpness. So be careful. I thought personally that it was a little hard to clean. That said I hope to get a lot of use out of it this summer when I make pickles and dehydrate vegetables..
